What Matt provided as a "CIO Coach" was someone who could both help draw out specific areas where I wanted to develop, but also through his previous technology leadership roles, understands the business and tech environment context in which I wanted to develop.
Through some focused discussions, we developed some specific technology leadership and career topic's to tackle and then via coached conversations, strategies and actions to take them forward.
Those actions are on-going and are helping me head in the direction I want to go.
The real benefit Matt was able to bring was to help me work through my own thought processes and therefore the actions I ended up defining were ones I could own.
Having taken some time out during the pandemic, Matt’s coaching helped me regain my confidence and belief to get back into the workplace, and to be comfortable with putting myself forward for and obtaining senior program leadership roles.
While I was sceptical about the value of coaching, Matt’s approach created a very safe and open relationship which I found to be very effective. There was a good balance between challenge and support, and I was held to account which was important to me.
He provided a clear framework but with the flexibility to go back over things as needed. Giving me time and space. Through the coaching I was able to resolve difficult issues and insecurities without blame or criticism.
I feel more confident in my overall capabilities and resilience which is allowing me to be seen with greater authority in my roles.
I wanted to have impact and be taken more seriously in a senior meeting environment. I struggled to explain my point at times and was not willing to be the loudest in the room just to be heard.
But feeling the need to change into someone I am not, seemed fake!
I had some transformational realisations about my attitude and principles, that were holding me back, things I was pre-programmed with that the coaching sessions exposed, allowing me to see in and realise the changes required, and be comfortable making them.
These changes individually seemed minor but together made a big difference.
The time to reflect and discuss actual situations, the probing questions Matt asked that allowed me to come to the conclusion myself. This is not education this is self-development facilitated by someone with an ability to tease the situation out into the discussion. Often in the sessions I laughed to myself that these things were perhaps obvious, and I had missed them for all these years.
Matt has a knack of asking the right questions combined with listening and prompting to allow you to go on a journey of self-discovery. It’s very enlightening and I would recommend Matt to anyone looking to develop.
Go ahead and be amazed at what you find out about yourself and how the tools made available can truly help you develop.
I needed help with clarity and direction. I felt that I and my business had potential that wasn’t being fulfilled and I couldn’t work out why. I had a lot of internal ‘noise’ and I wanted guidance and to work with someone who I trusted to navigate through the challenges I faced personally and with the business.
The largest issue I was facing was myself, but this wasn’t clear to me until the coaching sessions with Matt.
Matt’s coaching has been transformational, I have a clarity of thought and strategic vision. Understanding how much I could achieve has been a real insight. I have learnt to allow time for reflection and then plan correctly instead of moving too fast and thinking I am not making progress.
Coaching provided a safe space and a diagnostic voice that obliges you to think, reflect and challenge your own preconceptions and perspective. Why am I doing this? Why do I think like this? It is hard – not in an intellectual way but in a way that you need to think deeply about yourself and the decisions you are making and take time to reflect.
Matt’s coaching has provided a framework and a structure where you work towards something, realising your strengths. I also liked the fact that I don’t know what we were doing next. If you are working from a book or some best seller you can skip to the end or watch some reviews and get the ‘end’.
Matt’s coaching is more personal, its tailored – it’s your own book with structure and self-discovery.
When I thought coaching, I immediately thought in a sporting context with coach/athlete, what I often ignored or forgot is how much work the athletes need to do to improve technique, skill, and performance away from the track, and how much work is now done on mindset and wellbeing.
My initial thought about the coaching process was that it was about the coach. That was the largest learning point. The coach is important, critical and I’ll perhaps struggle to articulate this, but Matt didn’t have the answers – I found the answers, but as a great coach Matt allowed me to get to the answers, improve my performance, to reflect and to think about how I needed to improve. It’s a journey and the coaching helps you put the path down, making you think – where do you need to make adjustments and crucially see that you get to the end of the path.
Without doubt, this is the best thing I’ve done in 15 years. I could say I would have liked to have done it ten years ago, but I’m not sure I was ready then. Matt’s coaching has been transformational in so many ways.
I’m more assured and judicious, I now feel like I’m on my own CEO journey.
I would say that if you are thinking about getting a coach, then you are ready for coaching.
Transitioning from a large multinational finance role to a startup environment presented significant challenges. My primary goal was to adapt my approach, style, and ways of working to this new environment while staying true to my values.
Matt’’s approach was both structured and supportive. The personalised coaching helped me navigate my new role, offering practical tools and techniques that were immediately applicable. This guidance was instrumental in adapting to a smaller, more agile business environment without compromising on the level of rigour required for successful scaling.
The impact of the coaching program has been significant. I have successfully taken on a larger role with the same founder team, managing multiple businesses. Additionally, the coaching sessions enhanced my ability to make strategic decisions, improve my communication, and foster a productive work environment.
Matt has been a sounding board and mentor as well as a coach throughout this process, and I couldn’t recommend him strongly enough to anyone undergoing a role change, transitioning between organisations or teams, or simply seeking to elevate their personal and professional growth.
Matt's executive coaching program was a catalyst for my leadership transformation. I faced several challenges as I moved into a new leadership role. My primary goals were to enhance my leadership skills in key areas and develop my leadership style.
Matt's commitment to personalised coaching was evident from our first session. His keen ability to identify my unique challenges and aspirations created a tailored coaching experience.
The coaching program with Matt has been a transformative experience. My strategic decision-making, communication, and relationship-building skills have improved as well as my leadership effectiveness.
I wholeheartedly recommend Matt's coaching program to any leader looking to accelerate their career and achieve extraordinary results. The investment in this program has been invaluable, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a knowledgeable and insightful professional.
